CRAFTY DAY

A day at home with no commitments, no demands on my time, a day free to make cards.

Spaces cleared, equipment ready, lets start creating!

Pretty daisy designs are my specialty.

Lots of different combinations and colours.......

..... and don't forget the label on the back !

All packed and ready for the Hand Made Markets at Bundamba Racecourse on the 21st November.

WATER WORKS WONDERS

Desperate to keep our garden alive and bring a little colour to our sad, brown front yard in what should be a gloroious colourful time of year, we have installed a new dripper/ soaker hose around the struggling plants in our relatively new front garden.

Already you can see the benefits of some life-saving water. Bright green, lush new shoots are appearing on the pink Ixoras.

Buds are budding, ready to burst into a glorious show of colour...

The beautiful flowering gum is swelling with promise ...

I just can't wait for the burst of glorious colour .. soon? ... tomorrow?  ... maybe....

And our pride and joy, this stunning Gardenia is already filling the air with perfume......

....and it hasn't really started yet!

AT LAST HERE COMES THE RAIN !

At  looong  last here comes the rain.

After many many weeks with not a drop of rain, not a single cloud in the sky even, with the grass all brown and crunchy underfoot, it is going to rain !

Our poor house looks burnt to a crisp with grass the colour of dirt. It's so depressing! It's so dull and colourless!

BUT  THAT'S  ALL  ABOUT  TO  CHANGE!    ( I hope! )

When I look out the back I can see the clouds gathering...

When I look out the front I can see the clouds swirling....

QUILT PROJECT BEGUN

After holding off for a year, while I mustered the courage and the materials, I have started to make my first patchwork quilt. This was one of the things I have always said I wanted to do when I retired. I have admired these quilts for years, tried to find one I could afford to buy, but never managed as I have always wanted one for my bedroom in blue and lemon .

Here is the first stage of it. I have been collecting material and Roe gave me a great start with a pack of fat quarters. So far so good !................

Watch here for progress pictures!

WHAT A DAY!

The plan was to drive to Toowoomba to see the flowers with Elaine so we packed a picnic and were all ready to go when we looked out the window and saw the dust approaching from the west.

We went out the front to take a look and it was just as bad.
So we abandoned the plan to go to Toowoomba for the day.

Just as well. This is what quickly developed.

These local residents didn't seem to mind.

.... but the rest of us spent the day inside.

DOWN BY THE SEA

After a trip to the hairdresser at Wynnum we headed down to the Gold Coast for a picnic and a walk along the beach.

The weather was beautiful - as usual - and we walked from Broadbeach to Surfers' Paradise.

There were a surprising number of people in the water and on the beach.

The water was way too cold for me!

And, of course, we found some wildlife enjoying the sunshine too!

BIG DAY OUT

Today we thought that we would take advantage of the lovely weather on this the first day of Spring so we headed off to Dayboro, Mt Mee, Woodford and finally Maleny. It was lovely cruising through these nice little counrty towns.

We were having lunch in a nice little cafe in Maleny when this fellow appeared then calmly walked around under the tables where people sat !!

Not so little after all - he was a WHOPPER !!!!
