Summer days in Queensland often mean hot, humid days that end in super thunder storms.
Yesterday, the warnings started in the early afternoon and we could see the storm building up from our backyard vantage point.
Gradually the sun disappeared, the humidity increased and we waited
and batterned down the hatches !
It wasn't long before the sun disappeared
but luckily for us the worst of it passed us by.
Cheers.
Helen ~ they are fabulous photos. Always good when those clouds just fly out to sea.
ReplyDeleteWe need the rain Carol but not the storm damage !!
DeleteWow! That's some awesome pictures. Glad the worst of it missed you. We never see skies like that here. Or at least I've never seen skies like that but I'm only 65 so there's hope or dread depending on your viewpoint. I think the rain always gets to us before the sky puts on any great show.
ReplyDeleteTropical thunder storms can be quite spectacular with some great displays of lightning. I love them as long as they don't do any damage..
DeleteCarol sent me - and I wholeheartedly agree. Fabulous photos. And here in Canberra we would LOVE some rain. Really, really love it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting. Isn't it always the way in Australia. We are either desperate for rain or drowning in it !!
DeleteFantastic photos of Mother Nature showing us what she does best.
ReplyDeleteHope that awful heat in Perth doesn't get to you in time for Christmas Shay.
DeleteWe've been incredibly lucky and missed out on every severe storm so far this season(touch wood). Although it would be nice to get some decent rain.
ReplyDeleteLuckily we've had a little rain here. It's so nice to see a bit of green around.
DeleteWow! What an awesome assemblage of ominous images! (now say that ten times fast in the thunderstorm).
ReplyDeleteI give up !!!
