SATURDAY EVENING IN BRISBANE TOWN

During the day it's HOT in Brisbane in late November
but
 if you are lucky,
in the afternoon a breeze comes up and turns the evening into a balmy summer night.
Just right for a stroll through the gardens in the city centre,
along the manicured banks of our winding river.

These gardens were once our Botanic Gardens and so are planted with a host of lovely old trees

and wide stretches of lawns - the only green lawns to be seen anywhere in Brisbane at the moment.

There are also some scattered patches of colourful garden beds

The whole garden covers several hectares.

It's not semi-wild like Central Park or Hyde Park
or nearly as big

but it's a lovely manicured oasis in the centre of the city never-the-less.

The best thing about it is that when you exit through the big, wrought iron gates you are right in the city

and it's easy to find a lovely quiet spot for dinner with your fella.

Cheers.

A DAY AT THE BEACH WITH SCOUT

Do you remember Scout?

She lives with Sally and now she's all grown up.

Scout's favourite place in the whole world is
the beach.

Where she lives on Queensland's beautiful Gold Coast there are special beaches that are set aside for people and their dogs.

Recently we spent some time with them on the beach.
Scout's favourite game is to catch the Frisbee.

She fixes the Frisbee with a Border Collie stare,

gets ready

and she's off !

She's good ! Catching them in mid-air

on the fly !

The Frisbee gets covered in sand.

Scout gets covered in sand too !

Back and forth, back and forth.
She tears up and down the beach with her precious Frisbee.

Sometimes other dogs want to join in .....

but she never surrenders that Frisbee

and when Sally throws it into the water

she just charges in after it !

She's a great swimmer.

Doesn't mind putting her head under water

and often Sally joins her for a swim.

We played for over an hour until she was completely worn out.

Then we sat on the sand and watched what the other dogs were doing for fun.

 Doggie Heaven !

Cheers.

SURVIVING THE HEAT

What do you do when you live in Brisbane and the temperature climbs to 34  degrees Celcius?

Why, you head INTO the city !

Of course, the best way to avoid parking problems and costs is to catch the CityCat

Then, when you are right in the heart of the city, you alight at Southbank Parklands and follow the purple path......

that winds its way .....

to the beach !!!

Right in the heart of the city, on the site of World Expo88, is this lovely man-made "beach"

where you can lie on the sand or swim.

All completely free !!

Nearby is a waterplay area for kids

or you can play around in the cool man-made stream that feeds into the "beach".

A great place to cool off then travel home when the sun goes down.

That's the way we do Summer in Brissy.

Cheers.
