PLANNING

I'm still working away at my photo book from this year's holiday

but I'm also researching next year's holiday.

This research lark can eat up a lot of time as you go back and forth
 checking out accommodation,
checking out distances to drive between stop overs,
checking out things to see,
zooming in on Google Earth.

Here are a few photos from the Internet of the places we're hoping to visit.

I look forward to posting my own photos of these lovely places.

Now what did I do with that Italian for Dummies CD ?

Cheers.

  1. That's all part of the fun of the holiday though isn't it? Hope it all works out well for you.

    1. You're right there Jane. If and when I get the nod from Tony I plan to be ready to swing into action.

  2. It all looks pretty and interesting. I've always wondered how it would feel walking around on that tower. I'm looking forward to your pictures and hearing about your trip. Hope you get to go soon.

  3. I've had many hols in Italy (in fact it's the most frequent destination.)
You have shown above both my 'favourite' and my least 'favourite'.
Assisi and the area all around is absolutely stunning. Can't comment on Lake Como but I expect it is as fantastic as Lake Garda which I enjoyed very much.
Pisa was bearable, if you must, and for me me, Venice was just one big 'theme park' with coffee 58 euro! The whole place is a right 'rip-off'.
If you must, make these last two a day-trip. :)
    Cheers.....B

    1. Hello Bernard,
So nice to hear from you. I am very glad of any tips or recommendations. I've heard that before about Pisa and people seem to differ a lot over Venice so we'll just have to go and see for ourselves.Hoping to spend a week in Tuscany or Umbria.

  4. I loved Venice, in fact it was my favourite place I visited on my 2009 holiday. I wouldn't want to be there at the height of the tourist season though as I'd expect it to be far too crowded. Finding little gems of shops, cafes etc down small side streets was one of the highlights. Pisa - that's one place to spend half an hour so that you can tick it off your bucket list.
Italy is my favourite country, I can't wait to visit again, and again. I really really miss the gelati!!!

    1. We're planning on roughly the same time as this year Marg. Trying to go before it gets hot and crowded over there. So many people love it so I'm really looking forward to it. Hope it comes off!
PS. Any tips on accommodation ( self-catering not hotels though )?

  5. Planning a holiday is one of the fun parts of going. All that anticipation, looking for cool places to visit and discovering hidden gems to work into your itinerary. Have fun doing that because your proposed holiday snaps look like you're going to have a glorious time !

    1. You're right Shay , the planning is half the fun. It also shows you how little you know about these places till you start to research them.
