It's been quite a while since I blogged about sewing.
In fact it's been quite a while since I did any sewing
but recently I attended a workshop on Foundation Paper Piecing that I've been wanting to do forever.
Late last year I read a post on this lovely blog about making little houses - a challenge where quilters worldwide were making little houses.
The aim was to make one every day for a year, then sew them into a quilt.
Well I didn't want to make a whole quilt but I did want to learn how to make the dear little houses.
So here's my first attempt at paper piecing a little house.
It's six inches square
Originally I thought I would make a whole lot of these as pot holders to use for Christmas presents but I'll have to see if I can do this on my own again first!!
I might have been a bit ambitious?????

Brilliant Helen! What's stopping you making 365 of them then?! You could make a quilt using some plain blocks along with some of these if 365 is too many to contemplate couldn't you? Love the colours you have chosen too and I do so wish I had the patience to do this sort of work.

How cute, I think they would make adorable Christmas gifts. Perhaps the colors could reflect versions of red and green and white to make them more festive.

ReplyDeleteI must admit I didn't make the big quilt either, just a sofa throw. I made mine in all colours, but I like your yellow and blue scheme, very fresh.
So very cute. I think they would make a perfect Christmas gift. I adore the colors you picked out as well.
